Then and Now (2007) was a Barrett Marsden Gallery project curated by Caroline Broadhead.

Then and Now observes the work of contemporary jewellers at different stages in their careers. Caroline Broadhead looks at the 'New Jewellery' of the 1970s and 80s – the Then objects which chose to forget the traditional hierarchy of materials in conventional jewellery. This is compared to the jewellery of Now, which embodies an awareness of the earlier rejection of tradition. By examining contemporary jewellery within its recent historical context, a coexistence of the past and present is acknowledged through what is remembered, forgotten, and newly introduced.
